A man passing through a road saw some elephants and suddenly stopped. He was confused observing that as huge as the elephants are, they were being held by only a small
rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. no ranch. Perhaps, it was obvious that the
elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason,
they did not.
However, he saw a trainer nearby. Then he asked, why the elephants are just standing there without making attempt
to get away. The trainer then replied, “when they are very young and much smaller
we use the same size of rope to tie them. At that age, the rope is enough to hold
them. Thus, as they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. Consequently, the elephants believe the rope can still hold them. So they never try to break free.”
The man was
amazed that the elephants could at any time break free from their bonds but because
they believed they could not, they were stuck right where they were. Just like the
elephants, so many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot
do something, simply because we failed at it once before, or because we were told we cannot. I suppose you aren't one of the so many? If you are, change your attitude and perception. Failure
is part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life. #DubemickyInspiringGreatnessDaily.
