There is no shame in been ill

By ChiDubem Michael
I think is time the Nigeria presidency tell Nigerians the true state of President Muhammadu Buhari's health and the President come back to the country to carry out his constitutional responsibilities and address the challenges in this nation or relinquish power if he is incapacitated.

Enough of the controversies, speculations, ridicules, and shame surrounding the health of the President. Is been over two months now President Muhammadu Buhari is out of the country for medical follow up without the citizens who elected him been aware of what the illness he is challenged of is.

Whether President Muhammadu Buhari has been irrevocably hobbled by ill health or he is sound in body and mind and prancing around in Abuja House in London is a puzzle that would not be unravelled until he returns home.

Thus, if all the state governors, the officials of the presidency and political parties travel to London and return with the verdict that Buhari exudes great health and a stellar sense of humor that belies the stern stuff he is made of, this would make no difference to Nigerians.

However, even if Buhari again write to his Guinean counterpart that he is well and that he would soon return to Nigeria to assume the responsibilities he has abandoned for months, it would not douse Nigerians' doubts or put an end to trivialisation of the subject matter.

The manner of which the presidency is handling the issues is not helping, rather they maintain skepticism that Buhari is yet to recover from his illness and is incapacitated to hold on to power which he cannot perform the duties that follows it.

President Buhari and the Presidency, there is no shame in been ill. Let Nigerians know what your illness is. Is the prayer of Nigerians you get well and strong, so you should not hide that one thing they have to and been praying you from them. Come back home if you have recovered, if not relinquish power honourably, so that Nigerians won't be asked again "where is your president".
