There's always a tendency that we often dwell on our mistakes whenever we made one. We regret and loath them. Thus this become how many of us instinctively respond to mistakes; whereas this isn’t the way you should respond to mistakes.
Dwelling upon mistakes diminishes your self-confidence and your creative self-expression. It affects your performance and productivity, and makes you feel absolutely
miserable. However, dwelling on mistakes could trigger the habits of
procrastination and perfectionism, and as well abundance of emotions such as
anger, stress, worry, fear and frustration. Is this how you want to live? I'm certainly sure is not a way to live.
Perhaps, mistakes are actually considered to be a positive and transformative force
in one's life.
The habit of dwelling
pessimistically upon mistakes is doubt often stems from our childhood when we were
incorrectly taught to avoid making mistakes. We breed the habits also when we treat mistakes as a negative and
unwanted part of life. Your experience might have been different because in all likelihood mistakes weren’t viewed as a positive and beneficial
part of growing up.
Growing up you might have been
conditioned to hide your mistakes so that nobody else could
criticize, judge or embarrass you for making it. This might have made
you feel a little better on the surface. Hence, below the surface the mistake you made eats you up with guilt. Consequently, when you make a mistake, the best thing to do is to psychologically admit that you made the mistake and take full responsibility for resolving
things. This will not only gain you respect among people, but will definitely give you peace of mind.
You made a mistake, what's next? Lamentation and sadness or mad over what have happened? No! Rather, you should take responsibility of what happened, and
plan of fixing things and learning from your experience so
that you can do better next time. This is how things should be. But more often we don’t admit our mistakes. And certainly most of us don’t learn from our
experience. Thus as a result they keep repeating the same mistakes over and over
again until critical lessons are finally learned.
Be comfortable with your mistake and ready to
learn what you can from your experience. Thus be at peace with your mistakes, don't kill yourself or anybody over what is the past. You can only learn from it. Perhaps, if you want to greatness in your life, you must take to heart a few things. You must not forget that the path to your goals to greatness is naturally riddled with mistakes; with errors of
judgment; with unforeseen circumstances, and with miscalculated decisions. It is just a natural part of life. Nobody is perfect, that’s a fact. There are only people who learned from their experience.
Nobody is
perfect and we all make mistakes. Mistakes are what makes life interesting
and fun. The fact is, the bigger mistakes you end up making, the bigger the lessons
you'll learn; and the more you will grow. Then it provides you
with a greater array of life experience and wisdom that you could not but from the market. Hence, is important you remember that you're not your mistakes. Mistakes are therefore what you do, and not
who you are. So don't get it mixed up.
In any mistake, it’s important to realize that you're in fact making progress.
Mistakes are not a step back, rather it's a side-step that will help you to see
the path ahead with greater clarity as you keep moving forward. Mistakes are there
to help and balance you along your journey towards your desired
outcomes. However, success is always a result
of ongoing failure and mistakes. There's no one who has achieved anything worthwhile in
this world without failing greatly and making a ridiculous degrees of mistakes
along the way. Your journey will be no different. So just be at peace with
mistakes and failure, and accept it as an obstacle that is natural to life.
