Like every other professional boxer, Anthony Joshua only saw one outcome before Saturday night’s mega-money fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor in Las Vegas.
"He's coming out
of his field and going into Mayweather's domain,” Joshua, per the LondonEvening Standard, said of McGregor before the bout. “Even though he's an excellent fighter in
UFC, he's not an excellent boxer. Him crossing over is going to be a real, big
challenge.
"He could give a
good account of himself; I think Mayweather will win but as long as he gives a
good account of himself, it'll work really well for him.”
Joshua’s
prediction turned out to be spot on.
Mayweather did win,
reasonably comfortably in the end, outclassing McGregor before finishing him
off in the 10th round.
Joshua, however,
believes it stems deeper than that.
The British heavyweight
feels Mayweather is one of several major sporting stars who do not, for
whatever reason, get the credit they deserve.
“I think Floyd
Mayweather & Serena Williams do not get the credit they deserve,” Joshua
tweeted. “Legends in their respective sports…”
