There is no doubt, school can be sometimes very hard. Hence for the students, from all the puberty and relationship dramas and
getting their heads shoved down the toilet. However, there's also the insane stress of
trying to do well; trying to pass all your tests and getting into a good
college so that your life won't go down the toilet like the head. Believe
you me, it's pretty hard on our parents as well. Consequently, parents don't want to see their bright
children get anxious and depressed. Hence, they want them to get good
grades. Thus, this mum's response to her straight-A, brilliant daughter who got a
result she certainly did not expect, is all the more legendary.
This story is one that'll definitely remind you how cool some parents can really be.
High school senior Hannah Cho was
more or less your perfect student, consistently at the top of her class in all
her subjects. She was aiming for a perfect 4.0 GPA (what some will consider who made such grade a genius), until this curly math test came
around. Then she got a B grade. Now, talking of failure, the term is lightly used.
Certainly for some of us if not most, would be happy to even spell our name correctly in high
school. Apparently for Hannah, it was a devastating blow. Hence she'd studied for hours. Perhaps, she was pretty sure that she'd smash the test out of the park when the
result is out; so she was understandably upset. "For me, this was
unacceptable," she tweeted. However, her family been such with a culture of hard study and
fierce academic competition, she was sure that her parents would be upset, as well. But not until her mum sent her the Snapchat below;
Instead of being angry at
her daughter's performance, Hannah's mum sent her pretty much the most adorable
message possible. "I don't care if you fail your math test," it
started, following up with lines like "I care if you cry", "I
care if you're unhappy", and the classic "I love you". I'm sure this is the kind of message we all would want to hear at some points of our lives. Apparently some of us don't often have the courage to tell our loved ones that. But the world thought it to be the best thing in the world.
Within a few minutes of
Hannah tweeting her mum's message, it had gone viral with thousands of
retweets. Complete strangers were messaging Hannah, telling her how awesome her
mum was (as if she didn't know), and some went as far as to request an adoption
by Hannah's mum. Hence, this reminds me, for a moment, how much our parents (especially our mums) really do
support us and how they can go all the way to make sure we succeed.
One of the coolest part
about Hannah's mum; like most of our parents is her complete lack of shame.
Unlike us, they're always cleaning up after us, making sure there's something to eat, or driving us places to really care about what
other people think of them. They're happy to embarrass us in front of all our
friends. Though on the flip side, they're not ashamed to tell us that they love
us or tell us how proud they are. However, the never-ending support they gives us is the best
thing about them.
Good morning, and do have yourself a wonderful weekend. #DubemickyInspiringGreatnessDaily.
